LIVE THE ultime western

An epic immersive adventure where you are one of the heroes.

This adventure gives you the opportunity to step into the shoes of a fictional character during the era of the American West. More than just a role-playing game, it is a fully immersive adventure where you’ll solve mysteries, complete missions, take meaningful actions, and embark on exciting quests—all while bringing your character to life and shaping their own unique story.

Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions to help you prepare for your journey.

An adventure where you are both the protagonist and the audience.

From the outside, this adventure may look like a historical reenactment, a period costume show, or even a giant theatrical production. In reality, it is something entirely different. You won’t be watching the story unfold—you’ll be living it. There is no audience to judge your performance, because this is a live-action immersive experience in which you—and every other participant—become the characters in the story.

Unlike actors performing in a play or a film, participants have no idea how the story will end. Its outcome will depend, in part, on the choices they make throughout the adventure. Nor will you know, in any detail, the backstories or ambitions of the other characters you encounter along the way. There is no script to memorize—only the background of the character you have chosen to portray. From that moment on, it is up to you to improvise, react, and make decisions as events unfold around you.

Every participant is therefore both an actor and a spectator in a living story. The organizers have created the world, the setting, and the overarching narrative in which your character will evolve, but the story itself is written in real time—shaped by the interactions between players and by their responses to the intrigues, challenges, and events woven into the adventure.

What's the goal? To create the adventure together.

The objective isn’t to win—it’s to bring the story to life as a group. Through your choices, your interactions, and your roleplay, you’ll help shape a unique experience that every participant will remember. The more everyone embraces their character and the world around them, the richer and more unforgettable the adventure becomes.

This is a collaborative, live-action adventure designed to be experienced together. But unlike a traditional game, the objective isn’t to win, to be the strongest, or to outperform everyone else.

Think of it as stepping into a movie where you are one of the heroes, surrounded by breathtaking sets and unforgettable characters. The real reward is the experience itself: sharing an extraordinary adventure, creating memorable moments, and leaving with stories you’ll remember for years to come.

About the Character you'll portay

Well before the adventure begins, you will receive your Character Sheet. This document introduces the life and background of the character you will portray: their childhood, hometown, occupation, and personal history. You’ll also discover the significant events that have shaped their life, their allies and enemies, the affairs they’ve been involved in, and the rumors and stories they’ve heard over the years.

In short, your Character Sheet contains everything that makes your character feel like a real person with a past—a person who already exists in this world, with goals to pursue, things to say, mysteries to uncover, and perhaps even secrets to protect.

Everything written in your Character Sheet is strictly confidential. Only you should know its contents, just as every other participant has their own private story. During the adventure, you are free to decide if—and when—you reveal parts of your past. But be careful: some of the characters you meet may already know things about you through their own personal histories… just as you may know things about them.

There is no need to memorize every detail of your Character Sheet. Simply familiarize yourself with the key events, the important people, and the significant places it mentions. The rest will come naturally as the story unfolds.

To Help You Step Into Character

Read your Character Sheet carefully to understand your character’s past and gain a clear sense of their motivations, personality, and the kinds of relationships or situations they may encounter with the other characters they meet throughout the adventure.

Think about how your character speaks. Chances are, they don’t express themselves the way you do in everyday life! Are you playing a cowboy, a lady, a prospector, a banker, or perhaps the town’s future sheriff? Imagine yourself in the American West of the late 19th century (re-watching a few classic Westerns can be great inspiration) and consider the words, expressions, and manner of speaking that best suit your character.

Your costume will be one of your greatest allies. Putting it on will help you step naturally into your role, while also enhancing the immersion for everyone around you. When other participants see you, your appearance should immediately tell them something about your character: “That woman is dressed elegantly—she must be a lady of influence who knows the town’s most important people.”

For this reason, the costume you wear should match both the role you are playing and the Old West setting of the adventure. Try to avoid obvious anachronisms. Choose comfortable leather boots or ankle boots with a timeless look, and steer clear of modern country-style clothing, contemporary cowboy boots, or leather hats, as these do not reflect the authentic spirit of the period.

Before the Adventure begins

Once you arrive at the studios, and just before the adventure begins, you’ll attend a welcome briefing led by the organizing team. In addition to reviewing the game rules, they’ll introduce the members of the crew—many of whom will also be portraying characters you’ll encounter throughout your adventure.

This is also the perfect opportunity to meet the other participants and their characters. If this is your first immersive adventure, don’t hesitate to say so. Every experienced player was once a beginner, and they’ll be more than happy to offer advice and help you settle into the experience.

You’ll soon discover that it takes very little time to feel completely at ease and fully immersed in this extraordinary adventure.

When it starts !

The adventure begins!

The organizers give the signal, and from that moment on, it’s up to you to navigate the stories, mysteries, and intrigues that will unfold over the next several days. Trust the organizing team—they know exactly how to draw you into the action from the very first moments.

Let yourself be carried by the experience, and simply live your character. Ask yourself, “What would my character do in this situation?” Then follow that instinct. There are no right or wrong choices, no “best” path to take, and no predetermined way to play. There are only your decisions, and they are what make every adventure unique.

Above all, have fun—and enjoy every moment of the journey.

How to play your character

In Ultime Western®™, you don’t simply play a role—you become one of the characters in the story. There are no lines to memorize, no rehearsals, and no script to follow. Your only job is to behave as though everything happening around you is real.

Here’s an example. You’re standing at the counter of a bank when a notorious outlaw bursts through the door and holds everyone at gunpoint. Your character must treat that revolver as if it were a real weapon and react accordingly. What happens next is entirely up to you.

Perhaps you decide to calm the outlaw, speaking to them directly and trying to negotiate. Or maybe you choose to make a discreet escape, carefully working your way toward the door without being noticed. But if the bank robber spots you and “shoots” you in the leg (don’t worry—the blanks are harmless!), then your character should react as if they’ve really been wounded. Cry out in pain if you wish… perhaps the town doctor, passing outside at just that moment, will hear your cries and rush in to help. Every action can create new opportunities and unexpected twists in the story.

The same principle applies throughout the adventure. You will improvise not only what happens to your character, but also everything your character chooses to do. As long as it fits their personality and background, your character is free to do almost anything: lie, betray, seduce, negotiate, investigate, spy, forge alliances, or pursue their own ambitions.

The key is simple: play it as though it were real. That’s what makes the adventure come alive.

The only thing that truly matters? Play your character.

A game without limits... Within limits

In Ultime Western®™, your character is free to do almost anything—whether through real actions or the game’s simulation rules. But having complete freedom doesn’t mean doing just anything.

Always remember to play:

  • Without putting yourself or anyone else at physical risk.

  • Without behaving in a way that makes other participants feel uncomfortable.

  • With good sportsmanship and in accordance with the rules established by the organizers.

Above all, remember that you are not playing to win. You are playing to live an unforgettable experience.

It’s also important not to break the immersion for yourself or for everyone around you. Avoid saying things that don’t belong in the world of the game.

Don’t step outside the game’s universe

For example:

“I’ll look up the Sheriff’s address on the internet.”

Instead, ask the owner of the saloon.

Or:

“We all know that this U.S. President will be assassinated next year.”

If the story takes place in 1879, your character has no knowledge of what will happen in 1880—or any year after that.

Don’t invent abilities or objects your character doesn’t actually have

For example:

“Actually, let’s say I have sticks of dynamite in my bag.”

No. Either your character genuinely has (prop) sticks of dynamite that were found or acquired during the adventure, or they don’t. If they claim otherwise, then they are simply lying to the other characters—and everyone should understand that’s exactly what’s happening.

Or:

“My father was a doctor, so I watched him operate when I was a child. I can treat this wounded man.”

Again, no. Either your Character Sheet specifically states that your character has medical training (or another relevant skill), or they don’t. If your character claims to be a doctor despite having no such knowledge, then they are bluffing—and the other characters are free to believe them or not.

Don’t spoil the illusion

For example:

“The blood on that dead man’s head is fake!”

Well… of course it is. It’s theatrical makeup—and thankfully so!

The magic of the adventure comes from treating everything as if it were real. The more everyone embraces that shared illusion, the richer and more memorable the experience becomes for all.

Can I Step out of character sometimes?

Absolutely—you are always free to take a break!

Your adventure lasts several days, and you’ll normally remain in character throughout (except during meal times and when you retire for the night). It’s perfectly natural to want to take a moment to rest, make a phone call, or simply step away for a while.

If you do, simply leave the game area or move somewhere out of sight of the other participants before stepping out of character. This allows you to take the break you need without disrupting the immersion for everyone else.

How does end the adventure?

The adventure concludes with a final sequence. The organizers will make it clear when the story has come to an end—for now. Ultime Western®™ is a fully developed universe, and many more adventures await you in other towns, whether you return as the same character or step into the role of someone new.

Once the game is over, the organizers will lead a debriefing of the adventure you’ve just experienced. This will be an opportunity to share your impressions, feedback, and suggestions.

Afterwards, you’ll be able to relive your favorite moments and exchange stories with the other players and actors during the Final Fiesta!

To conclude :

Interaction between players is at the very heart of this extraordinary adventure. Throughout the game, your character is entirely your own. You are free to shape their actions and decisions as you see fit, provided you respect the game rules and play fairly with the other participants and actors.

Above all, never forget:

  • The goal of your live-action adventure isn’t to win or lose—it’s to have fun and create an unforgettable experience.

  • For everyone’s physical and emotional safety, any truly dangerous action is always simulated, using replica weapons and specific game mechanics. Never put yourself or anyone else at risk, and don’t hesitate to pause or stop the game if a situation ever requires it.

  • You are playing a character, and so is everyone else. Never take personally the words or actions directed at your character. If a desperado insults you, or a rancher cheats you out of your dollars during a poker game, your character is perfectly entitled to get angry and react in the moment—but remember, it’s all part of the story. Nothing is personal. Once again, it’s only a game.
